   Wafr announces development of a Canadian AI research lab and advances a $300 million fundraising campaign

   Wafr Technologies said it plans to develop an AI research lab in Canada and had raised $100 million toward a $300 million fundraising goal, to support the lab, expand R&D and commercialise its cooling technology. The release states no currency and names no investors. CEO Bikram Singh said the aim was to reduce AI’s impact on water and energy.

   Wafr Technologies launches, targets Canadian data center market

   Data Center Dynamics reported the launch of Wafr Technologies, co-founded by Creative Destruction Lab Vancouver executive director Darrell Kopke. Co-founder Darrell Kopke said a signed term sheet from a lead financier and verbal commitments to fill the seed round meant Wafr would start its prototype build. DCD noted it was not clear what funding the company had secured.
