Canadian innovation builds a brighter tomorrow.

MPB Communications states that it “was founded in 1976 and began operations on January 4th, 1977 as a spin-off of RCA Canada’s Research and Development Laboratories.” Its history records growth in the 1990s through “undersea branching multiplexers for the trans-Atlantic cable TAT-9”, then “a series of Optical Line Enhancing transmission equipment specifically designed for repeaterless systems” and its “patented Super Raman technology”. The company says development then “seamlessly transitioned into the development of Fiber Lasers and Fiber Amplifiers, meeting the demands of the scientific and industrial sectors where power efficiency, reliability, and compact size are paramount”, and that it has more recently split its optical amplifier line “between Telecom and Space applications with the development of Space-based amplifiers for GEO and LEO satellite constellations”.
